Why people use it

Built different. Actually free.

Files never touch our servers. That eliminates our costs and your limits.

End-to-End Encrypted

WebRTC's mandatory DTLS-SRTP encryption. On by default, cannot be disabled. Nobody reads your files in transit.

No Upload Wait

Files stream instantly the moment the receiver connects. No waiting for an upload to complete first.

No Size Limit

Most free transfer plans cap you at 2 to 15 GB. We cap nothing. Send 4K videos, project folders, 50 GB archives.

Any Device

iPhone to Android, Mac to Windows, tablet to desktop. Any combination, any modern browser.

No Account Ever

No sign-up, no email, no password. Open the page, pick a file, share the link. Done.

Always Free

No bandwidth bill means no pricing tiers. We cover costs through display ads. No paywall, ever.

Simple process

How to send a file in 4 steps

From file picker to delivered, in under a minute.

1

Pick your file

Tap Send a File and choose any file. It stays on your device. Nothing uploads.

2

Copy and share the link

Copy the link that appears and send it via WhatsApp, email, Slack, or any app.

3

Receiver connects

They open the link and tap Connect. The file starts streaming from your device instantly.

4

Both stay connected

Both tabs stay open until the bar hits 100%. Then check Downloads. Done.

Critical: Both browser tabs must stay open and devices awake for the full transfer. The file streams live from the sender's device, not from a server. This is what makes it free and private.

Quick answers

Common questions

Correct. No limit on our end. The only practical ceiling is your internet speed and how long both devices stay connected. Files over 50 GB transfer successfully.

Yes. Files travel directly between two devices using WebRTC DTLS end-to-end encryption. The file never passes through or gets stored on our servers. We cannot see the contents.

Because the file streams live from the sender's device, not from a server. If the sender closes their tab, the stream stops. This trade-off is what makes the service free, private, and unlimited.

Chrome (recommended), Edge, Firefox, and Safari on any device. iPhone to Android, Mac to Windows, all combinations work. No app or plug-in required.

First, make sure the sender's tab is still open and their screen is awake. The file streams live from their device. If their tab closed or their phone screen locked, the transfer stops. Ask them to reopen transferfiles.net and share a fresh link. If the issue continues, try a different browser (Chrome works best).

The file saves automatically to your Downloads folder once the bar reaches 100%, with no separate download button needed. If nothing appeared there, check that your browser didn't block the automatic save (look for a popup or a banner at the top of the page). On iOS Safari, the file goes to your Files app instead of Downloads. For very large files (over 200 MB), you may be prompted to choose a save location first.

This means your device couldn't connect to the sender's. The most common reasons: the sender closed their tab, their screen went to sleep, or they're behind a very strict firewall. Ask the sender to keep their tab open, then refresh this page and try again with the same code. If it fails repeatedly, ask them to share a fresh link (the code changes each time they pick a new file).

Not automatically. Because the file streams live between two devices, a disconnection means the stream ends. The sender needs to go back to transferfiles.net, pick the file again, and share a new link. You'll need to reconnect from the start. This is why keeping both tabs open until 100% is so important.
